FAQ
How
does it work?
ProHosting Banner Exchange is where members allow
advertising banners to be displayed on their Web pages,
while their advertising banners will be displayed
on other members Web sites. For every two banners
shown on your site, you earn one credit. For every
credit you have, your banner will be shown on the
exchange. The programming part is simple, just add
the html code that will be supplied to you and simply
cut and paste that code into your Web page. Then other
members of ProBe will be able to start showing their
banners on your site. We'll provide help and instructions
if you need it. You also need to upload your own advertising
banner into the system. Once you have uploaded your
banner our staff will approve it as quickly as possible.
Once your banner is approved it will then be displayed
on other members Web sites. This banner will help increase the
potential of generating many hits to your Web site.
What
do I need to join?
You have to have a Web site that is up and
running. Then you need a 468x60 pixel GIF image (your
advertising banner). Now you are ready to join. If you
don't have your banner image ready you can still join
and allow other banners to be displayed on your site.
What
is a banner?
A banner is a 468x60 pixel GIF image. For example
see the one at the top of this Web page. If you do
not have a banner you can create one using any type
of graphical programs. You should place your advertising
message on your banner for example "Click here
to purchase my products", as well as anything
that would set your banner apart from the crowd. Using
animation or cool images along with other techniques
helps a lot.
What
types of banners are accepted?
All
banners in the exchange are reviewed by our staff to
ensure that they are appropriate for general audiences. We do not accept
any advertisements for adult material. Banners and Web sites
must not contain nudity, partial nudity, violence, vulgar
language, or links to adult sites. Banners cannot imply
a link to an adult content site. We have strict company
policies on this issue and we deny or cancel member
account if we feel they have violated our acceptable
use policy.
What
is a credit?
A credit is earned either by showing two banners on
your site or by purchasing credits from ProBE. Your
credits represents the number of times your banner will
be displayed on other members Web pages. 1 credit is
worth 1 impression on our banner exchange.
What
is an impression?
Impression is equal to credit. Every time one of your
banners are displayed on our exchange, you have just
generated an impression. If
you have 1000 credits, then that means that you have
at least 1000 impressions available for your banner.
What
is a click-thru reward?
Click-thru rewards are for members who have placed an
HTML code into their Web page. Each time the ProBE banner
is clicked on, you generate a 2 credit reward in addition
to the .5 credits you received for displaying a members
banners on your Web page.
Do
I have to place the banner at the top?
Banner placement on your Web site has a direct impact
on the amount of click-thru rewards and hits you can
generate. ProBE requires that you place the banner code
at the top or close to it of your Web page.
What
is CTR and CTP?
Click-Thru Ratio(CTR) and Click-thru Percent(CTP) are
both measures of how well your banner is performing
on our exchange. For example: Lets say your banner had
100 impressions (shown on other members pages) and had
5 click-thrus (5 different people click on your banner
and were pulled to your Web page). Your CTR would be
20:1 or 100 impressions / 5 click-thrus. Your CPR would
be5% or 5 click-thrus / 100 impressions. They are actually
the same measure, but one is a ratio and the other is
a percentage. Any banner with 1% CTP is considered acceptable
and should not be changed. Any banner with 0.5% CTPs
should probably be changed.
What
is HTML Code, and where do I get it?
The HTML code is a couple of lines of text that when
you insert it into your Web site runs when people are
pulling up your site. This little bit of programming
code allows ProHosting Banner Exchange the availability
to display banners on your site. You can generate this
HTML code by selecting code generation option from our
control panel.
How
do I insert the HTML code into my Web page?
There are many different ways to insert HTML code into
your Web page, but the easiest would be to use a text
editor and then cut the code generated from our control
panel and then paste it back into your Web page. After
that save and publish your page and your all done. If
you are using software to generate your Web page you
can also paste the code into the page, however, you
may need more help so please feel free to email us with
any questions you may have. E-mail support@prohosting.com
How
long does it take to set up a new banner?
ProBE staff will have reviewed all new banner uploads
within a 24 hour time period. There may be some exceptions,
but our AUP policies controll part of this process and
since we adhere to strict rules we must ensure that
the guidelines are meet. This not only protects you
but it also protects ProBE.
How
do I submit my banner to ProBE?
If you are a member, you can upload your banner through
our control panel. ProBE has two options available for
uploading your banner. The first way is to retrieve
your banner from your harddrive and the other is to
grab it from your Web page.
What
are the Banner requirements?
The banner must be a Image File Format: GIF.
It can be animated or non-animated.
The Maximum Image Size is 11 KBytes. |
